In the 1980′s, the Porsche Boxster was the the undeniable emblem of upperclass cool. So much so that by the 90′s, the model was a total cliche. The image of a balding middle-aged man in a red convertible boxster with a young blonde in the passenger seat became emblazoned on our collective memories as the American symbol of the mid-life crisis. Well, Porsche is trying hard to revamp its image, and this new Black Edition of the Boxster is putting its best face forward.
Unfortunately, the actual design of the Boxster hasn’t really changed much on this new edition. It has bi-nexon headlights, a Bose stereo, and all the usual conveniences, but it’s basically the same old Boxster with 10 extra horsepower and a really cool black paint job. On the plus side, the Boxster is priced at $65,200, which is actually $3,200 less than the traditional model. And there’s the cache of having one of only 987 available. But other than that, it’s just the same old dressed up to look a little younger and hipper.

“In the 1980′s, the Porsche Boxster was the the undeniable emblem of upperclass cool. So much so that by the 90′s…”
The Boxster was introduced in 1996 as a 1997 model. Someone needs to get their facts (and their bigoted opinions) straight.
