Camping takes on a new look at Normandy Farms with a stay in a high class yurt, an acronym for Year-round Universal Recreation Tent. These year-round structures are 24 feet in diameter and are equipped with all the modern amenities, including a flat screen TV, gas fireplace, bathroom, shower, kitchenette and private bedroom.
These unique structures have been popping up all over the west coast but this just might be the first of its kind in New England. The windows overlook a pond and there is even a wrap-around deck where you can linger longer. If you are bringing your four-legged friend along with you for a visit, be sure to request the pet friendly yurt, Y3.
The property offers continuous events throughout each month so be sure to check the calendar in advance of your stay. Normandy Farms offers a host of family friendly activities on the property, including horseshoes, shuffleboard, two softball fields, ping-pong, billiards, a fitness center, recreation lodge, four swimming pools and two playgrounds.
Over the years, what was once farmland grew in acreage, and each succeeding generation has taken its place at Normandy. From a dairy farm to chickens, then raising sheep, the family has all worked the land first cleared from the wilderness 240 years ago. Now the 7th, 8th, & 9th generations are contributing to New England’s four season camping resort.
Rates here are $1,650 for a week. For more information, visit www.normandyfarms.com.
