Pop diva and workout maven Madonna is always ahead of the latest fitness trends. She did yoga before it was cool, and pilates, too. And then there’s Kabbalah, oh wait, that’s a religious thing. In any case, the reigning queen of pop has teamed up with Hard Candy, a line of body conscious clothing, to open up a franchise of fancy gyms.
According to the press release, Madonna et al plan to open gyms in cities around the globe , “including Russia, Brazil and Argentina, as well as locations in Europe and Asia. The centers will offer classes, a bike studio and a mind/body studio, a juice bar and lavish locker rooms built with the finest materials.” The first Hard candy Fitness Center will open in Mexico City next month.
Besides her enviable body, recognizable name, and probably a truckload of cash, what exactly does Madonna bring to the table? Mark Mastrov, chairman of New Evolution Ventures (NEV), the company behind the partnership, says that Madonna has, “worked out in literally hundreds of gyms around the world… she has a strong vision on what the ideal exercise, dancing and work out environment should be.” Well, I, for one, can’t wait to see what this ideal vision of fashionable fitness looks like.
