Yet again, one of Picasso’s masterpieces have been sold at auction to fetch the highest price ever for a painting. The painting titled “Nu au plateau de sculpteur” also known as Picasso’s Nude, Green Leaves And Bust. Sold for a world breaking 106.4 Million dollars at Christie’s in New York in May of 2010.
This master piece was sold from the estate of Frances Brody.   Who originally purchased the painting from Picasso’s agent in 1951.   This unique painting of the renowned painter was virtually an unknown piece in exceptional quality.
Picasso’s paintings also hold the third and fourth most expensive paintings ever. His third place masterpiece being “Garcon a la Pipe†(Boy with a Pipe) sold for 104.2 million dollars in May of 2004. Picasso’s fourth place was “Dora Maar au chat†(Dora Maar with cat) selling for 95.2 million dollars in 2006. Now these amounts are solely based on records that have been announced to the public. There are rumors that other paintings have been sold for higher dollar amounts and privately exchanged.
